Introducing… Lauriana Mae

Tears are diamonds, a pillow of stone…oh love, you ain’t never been good to me,” bellows Lauriana Mae on her rhapsodic EP of intimacy, heartbreak, and mesmerizing haughtiness, simply titled, Love Mae.

The New Jersey-born singer/songwriter has mustered up a resounding buzz with her spicy attitude, jazz-tinged melodies and nostalgic demeanor, roaring like the ‘20s in just a matter of months. With Atlantic Records behind her, the young hopeful looks to blend her soulful stylings with Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop elements, which will surely have you listening if you aren’t already.

Inspired by the likes of Ruth Brown, Billie Holiday, and Ray Charles, the starlet sonically bridges the origins of soul with contemporary trends and, to her advantage, performs these cuts at every show like it’s her debut. Though raised in a church choir, Mae rips a page out of the Flapper’s manual, as she’s fearless, unorthodox and just as bold as her groove.

You may remember her as the brunette who sang Duffy’s “Mercy” three years ago on Diddy’s MTV talent show, ‘Starmaker’. Now, she’s found herself in the company of label-buddy, B.o.B. — singing on “Chandelier”, a cut from his recently released album, Strange Clouds.

Sauced with her band, The Pains, and a developed artist-producer relationship with Kwame (Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Fantasia), we’d say Lauriana Mae is undoubtedly one to watch.
