Keyshia Cole Calls Beyoncé A Hypocrite

Ambiguity is the Devil’s volleyball; it leads imprudent individuals to illogical disputes and otherwise overlooked controversy. Just ask Keri Hilson.

Yet again, Keyshia Cole’s blunt honesty has found her on the wrong side of the majority’s opinion.

Yesterday, Beyoncé released a buzz single that included snippets of two songs, “Bow Down” and “I Been On.” The former included a few narcissistic lyrics that ambiguously targeted her industry counterparts.

I know when you were little girls
You dreamt of being in my world
Don’t forget it, don’t forget it
Respect that, bow down, bitches

The candidly vague lyrics seem contrived and regressive for such a dignified woman that rubs shoulders with the First Family and Oprah. On top of that, she has positioned herself as a role model and female empowerment figure, so vulgarly addressing undisclosed detractors should be beneath her.

Although the hypocrisy was quite obvious (for some), Keyshia felt the need to make sure it was exposed to the masses. She tweeted:

Can’t stand when people all self righteous when it’s convenient it makes them look good. Lmao! But can still talk shit when convenient 2 FOH

I done kept it real from the start! ‪#RespectTHAT

First “Women need to Stick together” now bitches better Bow. Smh. But it’s all G! Chicks stay shooting the shit. But when I speak my mind its a prob. #Well #StayMad

Keyshia’s point is valid and her retort, though unprofessionally expressed, is appropriate, considering she was implicitly told to bow down and referred to as a bitch. Let’s just say, she bit the bitter bait of propaganda.

The irony of it all is Keyshia left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths when she called Michelle Williams a “bitch,” but according to Keyshia’s mentions on Twitter, criticizing Beyoncé, the “Preeminent Mistress of the Universe,” for referring to women as “bitches” is prohibited. Double standards…what would we do without ‘em?

My unsolicited advice to Keyshia: stop publicly telling the truth. Some people can’t handle it.

I agree with your commentary, especially your advice

Beyonce wasn’t talking to Keyshia and more specifically black women. Where did she say black women? How did you come up with your own conclusion on that? Keyshia spoke no truth but showed her insecurities. Marriage issues at home perhaps??? She’s been lashing out on the regular.

Not all black celebrity women (as you say) took it as a negative. The song is meant to be a sing-a-long not to be directed at someone specifically. I don’t agree with your bias reporting.

People need to stop putting Beyonce in a box like you really know her. All of a sudden we are offended. I am NOT offended. It’s just a track for the club.

Keyshia is right. She needs to learn to keep that mouth closed though.

The problem is yall read too much into shit. It’s a fun song, not a song that’s supposed to be taken so literal. If this makes Beyonce a hypocrite then Keyshia’s a hypocrite; one minute she had enough of no love and then a couple songs later she’s saying she’s so in love!
