    • Remember how Lady Gaga used to ruin all of her epic songs with videos exceeding three minutes and fifty-five seconds? Drake has done the same thing with “Hold On We’re Going Home.” The Canadian mob boss uploaded the video on Vimeo. Ugh…
    • Cher Lloyd, 20, lured T.I., 33, away from his groupies and outside of the club where she could have him all to herself in the “I Wish” video.
    • Ledisi is blaming a special someone for radiating her life on “I Blame You,” her first offering since her 2011 LP Pieces of Me.
    • Katy Perry must be stopped.
    • Snoop Doggy won a pound of weed from his “mexican buddy Lui” on the Floyd Mayweather fight.
    • I really wish I worked at Rockstar right about now. Their pride and joy, Grand Theft Auto V, has generated approximately $800 million during its first 24 hours on sale. It made $1 billion in three days.
    • “We Can’t Stop” producer Mike WiLL Made It enlisted his alleged girlfriend Miley Cyrus for his club-banging new single “23.” Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa also contribute verses. The music video is pretty much a Jordans commercial, but it’s dope nevertheless.
    • Paula Patton doesn’t know why people want her to care about Miley dancing on her husband Robin Thicke.
    • Cher was not feeling Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance at all. “It just wasn’t done well,” the Pop legend told USA Today. “She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated.”
    • P!nk called the performance “tacky” and said Miley can do better. “She’s really freaking talented. She’s beautiful. She can sing her arse off and to go up there and do that? She’s cheating herself and she’s cheating the rest of us… She can do what she wants. People can like it if they want. I’m not going to buy it. She can do better. I’ve seen her do better.”
    • Little Mix channeled Kelis and Xtina on their new alt-Pop single, “Move,” the first offering from their forthcoming album arriving on November 11th.
    • Chris Brown says that if y’all are gonna judge him, y’all should be judging Jay Z too because he stabbed someone and used to sell crack.
    • Jennifer Hudson’s new Pharrell-produced, T.I.-featured song sounds like something we’ll hear at family reunions for years to come. Listen to the feel-good “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)” here.
    • Solange dances around a lowly lit flea market in the music video for “Lovers in the Parking Lot.”
    • Ja Rule opens up about losing to 50 Cent and Murder Inc’s demise.
    • Jason Derulo asks Jordin Sparks to marry him in the commercial for “Marry Me.”
    • #BlackTwitter has relegated J. Cole as a boring rapper, but he’s unbothered by their comments.

    J. Cole Dedicates “Crooked Smile” Video To Aiyana Stanley-Jones

    Wed, Sep 18th, 2013 |  Leave A Comment »

The “War On Drugs” and law officials killing innocent people during raids have nothing to do with J. Cole’s “Crooked Smile” song, but the 28-year-old rapper decided to shed some light on Aiyana Stanley-Jones’ story in the accompanying video.

In 2010, Detroit police officer Joseph Weekley shot and killed 7-year-old Aiyana during a raid targeting a murder suspect.

The music video finds J. Cole playing a drug dealer with a young daughter. A white man portraying a DEA agent provides juxtaposition. He too has a young daughter and is leading the raid against Cole’s character. Read More

    • Miley Cyrus owns Skylar Grey on Twitter for criticizing her MTV VMA performance.
    • Dizzy Wright spreads love and positivity at Venice Beach in his video for “World Peace,” a cool track from his ‘Golden Age’ mixtape.
    • If we saw the world like He does, we could see things much clearer. Queen of the Holy Twerk Michelle Williams understands this line of thinking, and she sings about it in the emotional, Derek Blanks-directed video for “If We Had Your Eyes.”
    • Ciara is number four on a top tens list in 2013. The Queen of Backbend is truly a force.
    • G-Dragon declares his “Coup D’etat” in his demented music video. The K-Pop star worked with American DJs/producers Diplo and Baauer for the track.
    • When I tell you rappers and singer find any reason to make trailers these days… J. Cole has one for his forthcoming tour, “What Dreams May Come,” and it features that man that used to scream “Gaaaaaawwwdd!!!!” on BET at 4 o’clock in the morning. The visual is enthralling, too.
    • Speaking of tours, TGT (Tank, Ginuine and Tyrese) has been killing stages all over America in support of their incredible Three Kings album.
    • Speaking of incredible R&B albums, Tamar Braxton hit up Live with Kelly & Michael to promote her new album, Love and War. The blonde diva performed the album’s title track for viewers.
    • Take a peak inside John Wall’s $4.9 million pad.
    • Robin Thicke celebrated the release of his new album with his usually zooted wife Paula Patton.
    • Lee Daniels’ The Butler is No. 1 for the third consecutive week. Not even pop sensation One Direction’s documentary could dethrone the Oprah-starring flick.

    • Karma’s a bitch: Kelly Price and Dawn Robinson’s “funeralogues” is the most pathetic thing you’ve ever seen in your life.
    • Lady Gaga may appear on T-Boz and Chilli of TLC’s upcoming LP on a song titled “Posh Life.”
    • Eminem has a stale new song called “Berzerk,” but it still may sell upwards of 375,000 downloads in its first week.
    • Joe Jonas is honored to have co-written “Dreams,” a song included on John Legend’s Love in the Future. His dad is one proud papa.
    • A deleted scene from season 2 of Scandal shows an intimate moment between “HuckleberryQuinn.” Here’s another of a heated phone conversation between Mellie and Cyrus.
    • The internet outdoes itself again. Some awesome person has drawn Drake in scenes of Breaking Bad and publishes the photos on a tumblr called “Drake-ing Bad.”
    • Lil’ Kim calls Lil’ Wayne her “homegirl” and renames him”Lil’ Tutu” in response to him referencing her ever-changing face on Dedication 5‘s “Pure Columbia.”
    • In partnership with Taco Bell and Get Schooled, Kendrick Lamar and James Harden helped recognize the extraordinary efforts of Bethel Regional High School’s staff, students and community. K.Dot deciphered lyrics and gave lessons in rhyming to an eager classroom. Read More

New Music: Elijah Blake Ft. J. Cole – “Vendetta”

    Wed, Jul 3rd, 2013 |  Leave A Comment »

Nostalgic would be one word to describe J. Cole‘s verse on Elijah Blake‘s “Vendetta,” considering he referenced Jay-Z’s “Nigga What, Nigga Who,” Fabolous’ former sidekick Lil’ Mo and retired dance the “Heel Toe.” Elijah coos about refusing to beg his lover to stay and tries to convince her that she’s trippin’.

Drake Buys A Lot of J. Cole’s ‘Born Sinner’ Albums, Gives ‘Nothing Was the Same’ Update

    Tue, Jun 25th, 2013 |  Leave A Comment »

Drake wants to be in Roc Nation so badly.

Dada‘s biggest supporter may not want any new friends, but he certainly cherishes and supports the ones he does have.

Before he was rejected from popping champagne bottles with his friend Chris Bosh Lebron James, Drake breezed onstage during J. Cole‘s “Dollar & A Dream” New York stop. The crowd was very receptive to their recital of “In the Morning,” so Canada’s Very Own stayed around for “Say What’s Real” and “Started From the Bottom.” Cole played hype man during the coup d’état. J. Cole Celebrates “Imperfections” On “Crooked Smile” Ft. TLC

    Wed, Jun 5th, 2013 |  2 Comments »

50 Cent, Nas, Nelly and B.o.B may have gotten their teeth “fixed” after adding a few commas to their bank account balance, but J. Cole is following the way of Fabolous by embracing his dental “imperfections.”

T-Boz and Chilli of TLC sing the hook of Cole’s “Crooked Smile,” the second single from his Born Sinner album. The song’s production is reminiscent to Jennifer Hudson’s “No One Gonna Love You” and the message is in the same vein as TLC’s love yourself classic, “Unpretty.” Read More
