At 36, Robin Thicke has scored the biggest hit of his career with “Blurred Lines,” his sleeper hit featuring Pharrell and T.I. It’s currently No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Songs chart and No. 6 on the Hot 100.

While speaking with UK’s KISS FM, Robin talks about the racy visual accompaniment, working with Pharrell, Timbaland, Will.i.am and Dr. Luke on his forthcoming sixth album, Blurred Lines, which is due out on July 8th.

Last year, ABC joined the talent show competition fight with Duets. Robin, along with John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Nettles, served as a mentor. Condensing Robin’s words, the show was a fraudulent flop. He admits to only taking the job because he needed the ridiculous amount of money they were paying him.

Robin brazenly says “Thank God” when asked about Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey’s American Idol departure. Although he “honestly [sic] could care less” about the conversation, he says a musician like Alicia Keys is more suitable for the judging panel.

“Let Me Love You” crooner Mario is slowly building anticipation for his fifth album, which follows 2009’s D.N.A. Last year, he came out of the trenches with “Killa,” a risqué baby maker that was lowly promoted.

A few weeks ago, he dropped “Somebody Else” featuring Nicki Minaj. Sparse snares and a distorted sample make up the backdrop of the lamenting record.

Nicki isn’t the only feature on the album; Mario tells Baltimore’s 92Q that J. Cole has a verse on “Fatal Distraction,” a song that talks about the distractions and temptations and the infatuation that can have on a man when it comes to a woman.”

He also wants the LP to include his very first duet. He’s eying Sevyn Streeter to assist him in breaking his duet cherry.

The album is due out in September, just in time for Virgo season. Initially, it was titled Restoration, but Mario says he’s announcing the new title on Twitter very soon.

Meanwhile, vocal legends Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton have revealed details regarding new music.

With “#Beautiful’s” runaway success, Mariah has set a release date for her currently untitled 13th studio album. She tweets, ‘the new era begins on July 23rd.’

As detailed above, Mariah has gracefully walked away from ‘Idol’, leaving a trail of glitter behind her. Despite a series of embarrassing live performances, the “Triumphant” icon is planning a world tour in support of her new album.

Evidently the attention Toni sought by announcing her retirement has been fulfilled. The Braxton Family Values diva shared a photo of herself and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, the man who helped launch her career, with the caption, ‘September 2013 @Motown.’ Perhaps those studio sessions with Babyface lead to new music that is being released in September via Motown.
