YouTube Bans Robin Thicke’s Racy ‘Blurred Lines’ Video
Robin Thicke, who has a son with his beautiful wife Paula Patton, Pharrell, who is engaged to be married, and T.I., who has a number of kids with his committed wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, deemed it appropriate to put on their Sunday’s best while a few stunning topless prostitutes models kept them company in the video for “Blurred Lines.”
As expected, the video is gaining recognition for all the wrong reasons. YouTube banned it for being in violation of its censorship guidelines. Quick, everyone act surprised. This has practically made the song an afterthought, which is particularly unfortunate because it’s pretty dope.
Robin says using topless video girls was director Diane Martel’s idea and his wife approved. I assumed it was Pharrell’s idea; naked women serve him so often that he’s completely unaffected by their presence (see here).
“As long as it’s fun and the girls are comfortable, let’s do something silly,” Thicke said about the video’s concept. “Let’s take some chances.”
I’m all for having fun and being avant-garde, but this was corny, contrived and dated, all avenues Robin should leave to his good friend Justin Timberlake.
