Kanye West & A$AP Rocky Complain About MTV’s ‘Hottest MC’ List

This has been a bad week for Pop culture. Keri Hilson reached her breaking point with the Beyhive; Drake threw subliminal shots at The Weeknd; DMX told Iyanla Vanzant to “shut the f*ck up!”; Zoanette was eliminated from American Idol; Justin Bieber told the paps he would “beat the f**k out of” them; Rihanna’s friend confirmed that the Bajan megastar is threatened by Ciara; and Chris Brown is back to his bat-sh*t crazy self.

I wish I could say my week of covering the insanity was over, but Kanye West decided to call DJ Enuff and not only boast about his subpar rapping skills but also announce he gave Sway Calloway his first TV.

Sway took the belittling in stride, though. He tweeted,

#Swaysfirsttv OK the jig is up! @KanyeWest thanks 4 my 1st Tv BUT you still owe me the REMOTE! lol #Hottestmc finale on @MTVJAMS Thurs 10pm!

As we know, the only thing that makes Kanye happy is Kim Kanye. This sudden disdain for the host derives from his position on MTV’s ‘Hottest MCs In the Game VIII’ list–number 7.

One would expect ‘Ye to argue that he is deserving of the number one spot, but he surprisingly crowns Lil’ Wayne as the number one rapper in the world. Although the world disagrees, Wayne took it as the “ultimate compliment coming from a humble, great, extremely creative & superior genius.” Sigh.

Kanye isn’t the only skirt-wearing rapper that’s upset about his placement on the list. Surprisingly, it isn’t Azealia “I’m Always Arguing About Nothing” Banks. It’s A$AP Rocky. The Harlem newcomer thinks he deserves to be on top. Why? I’ll let him explain.

“All my videos are sh*tting on any Hip Hop video out there. Let’s be honest. The reason why everybody is wearing gold again is because of your boy. Everybody’s wearing diamonds. I’m the one who made the John Lennon shades with the glasses—everybody wearing it now, you see what’s going on now. Come on, who brought gold teeth back? Let’s be honest…Honestly, I brought it back in a dramatic way. I made braids hot. Let’s get off trends.”

“I’m the first artist who grew enough balls to say, ‘I listen to Geto Boys, Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, N.W.A. and Wu-Tang at the same damn time, and what?’ And I’m influenced by all of them […] But moving aside from the fact that I broke boundaries with not only that, but what other rapper is on the cover of Vogue?”

“Forget trends, let’s get off trends. Let’s get back to the music. Who brought double time back? Who was rapping like Bone? Nobody. […] Who brought that flow out? I don’t even use it no more. Everybody using this. Everybody rapping like that now.”

“It’s frustrating when I’m number eight. Don’t put me at all. I need to be number one,” he brazenly told the LA Leakers.

The full list that will be long-forgotten next week:

1. Kendrick Lamar
2. 2 Chainz
3. Rick Ross
4. Nas
5. Drake
6. Big Sean
7. Kanye West
8. A$AP Rocky
9. Future
10. Meek Mill

Kanye acting pissy:

Sway shows off the infamous TV:

Sway is still talking about the TV:

Rocky overvaluing himself:

Personally, I’m upset that the new Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul was snubbed. She’s only responsible for the greatest moment in rap history of the last year (or ever). You weren’t aware Mary J had been dethroned? Witness the greatness of her heir here.
