Pat Dolla$samples Gary Jules’ “Mad World” for “Imagine If,” an offering of what’s to be expected from his mixtape, Change Begins: The Prelude. The world he visions will never exist in a capitalist society; however, it’s nice to imagine, right?

Henry Ogirri premieres his debut video, “Struggles,” which audio samples Kanye West’s “All of the Lights.” Jaison BlackRose directed the black-and-white clip.
On the track, Henry shares his many struggles with life from a pessimistic perspective. “Go to sleep early, wake up late. Go to my sh*tty job, that I f*cking hate,” he raps. Everyone has tolerated situations we’d rather not, but Henry has obviously had his fair share of life’s downs.
“F*ck my life should be my theme song” and “I feel empty, struggling to find my purpose” are two other lines, further exposing his feelings toward struggles and tribulations life has offered.
Obviously he has a story to tell, and I’m interested enough to listen.
Curbside expresses his lust for a certain hot chick, with references to popular arcade games. “Damn boy, I got you on my mind. Let’s play some games if you got the time,” she says. He responds, ”it’s whatever girl, I swear you fire. Like Ken’s uppercut, in Street Fighter.”
During their planned sexcapade, the hot chick’s unsuspecting boyfriend catches the acquainted strangers. Read More →
I’m sure we’ve all experienced or witnessed a situation involving an individual whose sole objective is self-gain. In some cases, the selfish entity isn’t affected by something negatively impacting another. Cyrus “Cy Harp” Harper breathes life into this sentiment with his latest visual, The Discovering Death Story.
In Death Story, Cy stars as De’Vile, a perverted individual whose only concern is sex – oral and/or penetration. He seeks to accomplish this task with the help of a prostitute. Instead of paying her with money, he uses faux cocaine, realizing she won’t know the difference.
Fast-forward through the unaffectionate sex scene, the prostitute dies from an overdose of the fake coke. It’s later revealed that upon her death, she was with child.
After watching the video, I immediately thought of the scene in 2009’s Notorious, where B.I.G. sold crack to a pregnant woman. When someone seemingly concerned rhetorically brought it to his attention, he responded, “F*ck a pregnant b*tch. I ain’t get in this game to be no social worker.”
Unlike De’Vile, Biggie’s point of interest was earning money. However, in both situations, neither of them considered the lives affected by their actions. The child is likely to be born addicted to some sort of drug; families of the abuser, the true victims, will have to deal with the aftermath. (The prostitute can’t be looked upon as the victim, considering she possesses a freethinking mind – one controlled by drugs, alcohol and sex, but freethinking nevertheless.)
Blaming persons like De’Vile is comprehensible – what is their rationale for perpetuating such a tragic cycle? Do they fail to realize the prostitute could indeed be their sister, mother, aunt or cousin?
