A little over a month ago we revealed that we’d be rolling out a brand new Genius feature; one that would coincide with our 2nd anniversary (August 1) and our concrete vow to highlight the best (and sometimes worst) of music and entertainment.
Of course, it’s none other than Philadelphian vocal empress, Jazmine Sullivan, to usher in our latest effort-Hidden Gems. Bearing an unmarred, rasp-coated set of pipes and a sass gifted only to those destined to entertain, one would consider it standard to have Sullivan and artists like her at the top of the chain….not so much. Nonetheless, the seasoned rookie managed to deliver two quality records through J Records; Fearless in 2008 and Love Me Back in 2010.

Hidden Gem is a daily feature we’re implementing into our ever-expanding conduit of entertainment news. Hidden Gems are non-singles from albums that are arguably stronger than the actual singles. These blog posts will highlight those underappreciated and overlooked album cuts.
I’ve been sitting on the idea for quite some time. Initially, the plan was to introduce all of our new features on August 1, 2012 (IABG.com’s 2nd anniversary), but obviously that didn’t happen.
Unsurprisingly, I haven’t listened to every album ever released, so I may not be privy to every grand album cut. Requests are welcomed and may be solicited occasionally.
I will use Spotify, a free music streaming service, to embed the audio (download here). Most major artists’ albums are available for stream on Spotify, which is convenient for listeners and beneficial to artists. I’m aware Spotify isn’t available in all countries, so I will include an alternative link as well.
