Cover Star: Katlynn Simone – ‘Like A Star’

All too often do cover stars diminish the brilliance of songs, particularly delicate songs, by including excessive grunts, growls and runs in their interpretation.

Katlynn Simone, Brittany “Brit Brat” Pitts of BET’s The Game, did just the opposite with her stirring cover of Corinne Bailey Rae’s soft and sultry ballad “Like A Star.” Subtlety and purity were of utmost importance throughout the rendition. Although it ended abruptly, the cover was effective in displaying the 17-year-old’s potential.
