Though plagued with self-indulgent narcissism, Beyoncé’s delusional stumble into the trap (see: “Bow Down/I Been Down”) was pretty accurate–very few contemporary female entertainers are on her level of stardom. The Houston native (it feels obligatory now) adds yet another major ad campaign to her endless list of marketing maneuvers–hipster retail giant H&M is taking a sip of “Pepsi-Bey.”
“Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M” is the title of the summer ad campaign, which is rather odd seeing that she doesn’t want to be looked at as “just his little wife.”
Sidebar: Who thought that anyways? In actuality, Jay-Z might be just her little husband. He was invited to President Obama’s inauguration because of her (Let’s be honest; would he have been invited otherwise?); he was at the Super Bowl because of her; and he appeared in her dull documentary because she told him if he didn’t participate, she’d call Willie D, Bun B ‘n nem to smac…ok, she didn’t say that. But you get the point.
Photography partners Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin snapped the lounging beauty in Nassau, Bahamas. According to the accompanying press release, a new song titled “Standing On the Sun” will be featured alongside a television commercial, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, in May.
The song’s title is quite appropriate, considering the “Preeminent Mistress of the Universe” is the only human that can withstand the heat of the sun. And that’s why we bow, Keyshia.
