Once a year, MTV celebrates music and the videos accompanying it with an annual ceremony, the Video Music Awards. At last year’s ceremony, Beyoncé revealed she was pregnant with her first child and Lady Gaga made Britney Spears enormously uncomfortable as Jo Calderone.
This year, MTV plans on creating a spectacle by incorporating actual music-related occurrences. Although details regarding the event are still relatively vague, it has been announced that soulful diva Alicia Keys and Brit-pop sensation One Direction have been booked to perform.
Considering 50 Cent has announced that “New Day” as his new single, it’s likely Alicia will debut new material from her forthcoming album.
The 2012 will broadcast live on Thursday, September 6, at the Staples Arena in Los Angeles. Will you be watching?
In 2007, Mrs. Keys debuted “No One” at the VMAs. The single, written and produced by Keys, Krucial and Dirty Harry, went on to become one of her biggest hits and placed at number six on Billboard Hot 100’s decade-end chart. Hopefully whatever the talented songstress is premiering will experience that same success. Relive the magical moment below!
