Nelly Ft. T.I. – “Rick James”
Remember Nelly’s collaboration with Mariah Carey, “To The Floor”? One of two songs on The Emancipation of Mimi that should have never left the cutting room floor? That song came to mind upon my first listen of Nelly’s “Rick James” featuring T.I. Old-school funk meets hip-hop on “Rick James.” The genre-mixing production sounds like it was made on Neptunes, which is coincidentally where “To The Floor” was made. With a title inspired by an unapologetically provocative music legend, I expected more provocative lyrics. Still, though, the M.O. track will likely be a standout on the LP.
