Jhené Aiko Ft. Childish Gambino – “Bed Peace”
Are you familiar with John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s two-week-long “Bed-Ins for Peace”? Neither am I. That’s why it’s great to have conscious contemporary artists like Jhené Aiko and Childish Gambino exposing neglected moments of American history.
The artistic duo appear disheveled on the grainy, Tumblr-friendly cover art. They both hold a single, colored flowers, clearly symbolizing whatever took place in the bed moments before the photo was snapped. Jhené details their sensual adventures on “Bed Peace,” a title taken from John and Yoko’s accompanying documentary.
“If I had it my way, I’d roll out of bed, say, ’bout 2:30 midday
Hit the blunt then hit you up to come over to my place
You show up right away, we make love and then we fuck and then you’d give me my space”
The way Aiko rides the trap-meets-trippy beat is impeccable, and Gambino follows with a subtle but necessary rap verse. In a perfect world, this couple (of creative people) will fill up Jhené’s long-awaited Sail Out EP, but she has some awesome features—Ab-Soul and Kendrick Lamar. The EP is due out on October 29th.
