Who Is Miranda Brooke?

My exact words when I caught wind of the songstress willfully admitting on radio that she was a hater…and no, this wasn’t a live interview of some sort, these were lyrics to Miranda Brooke‘s debut single, “Hater“. By the end of the song, the Def Jam artist had already won for two reasons…I wanted to know her name and I wanted to hear the song again.

The jam was written and produced by Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph (“Man Down”) and serves as a pretty daring introduction for the Chattanooga, Tennessee-native. A few industry heads had their eyes set on Brooke, but it was Def Jam A&R Exec., Bu Thiam, who signed Brooke to his imprint, Bu Vision, for the win. Thiam then set Brooke up to work with an all-star line-up of producers/songwriters for her debut album, including Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri, Sean Garrett, Rico Love, and Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs-who produced “No Scrubs” for TLC, one of Brooke’s major influences.

In addition to TLC, she sights Aaliyah, Xscape, and Missy Elliott as influential artists…the latter being the inspiration behind her rhymes. Yes, Brooke says she’s a triple threat and dubs herself a performer, rather than a singer due to her rhyme and dance finesse.

Check out the official video for “Hater”, directed by TAJ

Boasting exceptional vocals, a gorgeous face, a determined attitude, dance floor finesse and an intriguing personality…the budding performer could very well take the industry by storm.

I think the song gets annoying.. "Okay b**** you're a hater, now what?" prove something else in the song and not just how much you hating on somebody. I don't understand how she is suppose to be a role model for children when she is on her cover dressed like a hoe in butty shorts. I don't want my kids looking up to her.

This "role model" ideology always gets twisted…a role model doesn't live for anyone else, a role model is an individual who does things the way they see fit and gains a following for it.

It's clear Def Jam has a type. The song is decent… She's gorgeous…
