Patrons of Hip-Hop’s Golden Era made the night a spectacular one as they delivered a special tribute to the late emcee, Heavy D, at this year’s Soul Train Awards. Some of those include, Doug E. Fresh, Goodie Mob, Kurtis Blow, Big Daddy Kane and Naughty By Nature. The clique of entertainers performed some of the Overweight Lover’s greatest hits, ending the set with an emotionally-moving rendition of “Nuttin’ But Love“, as Hev’s last tweet “Be Inspired” displayed above.
Held at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on November 17, Jill Scott and Cee-Lo took home awards for Best Female/Best Male R&B/Soul Artist, the latter taking to the stage to perform, in addition to Miguel, Marsha Ambrosius, Chrisette Michelle, Morris Day and the Time, Joe, Eric Benet, Mindless Behavior, Gladys Knight & BeBe Winans, Robin Thicke, Natalie Cole, Musiq Soulchild, Mary Mary, Common, Melanie Fiona and Lloyd. The show was exuberantly dynamic, due in part to the hosting duties by comedian, Cedric the Entertainer.
In attendance were entertainers like Keri Hilson, Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Laurieann Gibson, Amber Rose, Jasmine Guy, Anthony Hamilton, Tom Joyner, Lance Gross, Raheem Devaughn, Freddie Jackson, Kenny Lattimore, Necole Bitchie, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Terry Vaughn, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Lalah Hathaway, Shaunie O’Neal, Tami Roman, Tamar Braxton, Cynthia Bailey, NeNe Leakes, Bobby V, Earth, Wind & Fire and so much more.
