Aired on Monday night (Feb. 13) during Black History Month, BET hosted its fifth annual BET Honors, an award show that celebrates the achievements of African-American luminaries. This year’s honorees included, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Maya Angelou, Tuskegee Airmen, Mariah Carey, Spike Lee and Beverly Kearney.
The ceremony saw electrifying performances from Common & Anthony Hamilton, Willow Smith, Kelly Rowland, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Ledisi, Jennifer Hudson and Jill Scott. Look below for footage…
Kelly Rowland and Raekwon serenade Mariah Carey with a special tribute performance of “Fantasy“…
Common and Anthony Hamilton uplift the crowd with a choir-assisted performance of “The Believer“…
Patti Labelle brings tears to Mariah Carey’s eyes with her heartfelt rendition of “Hero“…
Jennifer Hudson empowers the ladies with a sultry performance of “Think Like A Man“…
Ledisi brings the house down with a groovy Stevie Wonder medley, including “Superstition,” and “Do I Do“…
Willow Smith joins Queen Latifah, Jill Scott and Cicely Tyson for a prolific rendition of Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise“…
Exquisitely done, BET. This production is the sole reason I cling to my high hopes for the network.
