In the issue, Cudi says Hip-Hop has lost its edge.

“I’m just saying people don’t really even try, man. They don’t try to push themselves as artists,” he explains. “Hip-hop is a really lucrative business. A lot of people get into it to make money and ain’t nothing wrong with that either. It’s a positive business venture. Why not? But at the same time, that’s all music has turned into. The artistry is lost in the cracks. You have to search for it. You have to really look and dig deep — and that’s the kids that are online, looking at websites and blogs for new music. Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius Talk Jumping Genres With ‘WZRD’

Next week, Kid CuDi and Dot Da Genius, collectively known as WZRD, are releasing their self-titled debut album. In an interview with The Urban Nomad, Cudi and Dot discuss their conversion from hip-hop to rock. The Cudder says he ignored what consumers expect from him and decided to do his own thing.

“Subconsciously we are trying to change people’s perspective of music and genres, and what things are suppose to sound like,” he elaborates. “I feel like genres were forced into our minds. Music shouldn’t be divided up into genres, it should just be music.”

Also, Cudi revealed his thoughts on The Grammys, rappers acting and being a hero to young listeners.

New Music: WZRD Ft. Desire “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie”

After much anticipation, Kid CuDi and Dot Da Genius, collectively known as Wzrd, has premiered the full-length version of their second WZRD single “Teleport 2 Me.”

Initially, the song was simply titled “Teleport 2 Me“; like the majority of the Cudder’s music, it comes from a personal circumstance. This one in particular dealt with someone named “Jamie,” hence the new title – “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie.”

Also, the cover reveals Desire as a contributing feature. Her voice can be faintly heard in the background throughout the thumping tune. Listen below…

Kid CuDi & Dot Da Genius Preview New Single “Teleport 2 Me”

Yesterday, Kid CuDi and Dot Da Genius, collectively known as WZRD, unveiled the album cover for their self-titled alternative rock collaborative effort. Since the announcement of the project, songs intended for the album have been underwhelming. CuDi and Dot realized this and returned to the trippy and chill sound the Cudder is acclaimed for. The lead single “Teleport 2 Me” was the product.
