Elle Varner, Stacy Barthe & Leah Labelle Perform At BET Music Matters Party

Despite not having programming to endorse the assertion, BET claims music still matters. They held their pre-Grammy BET Music Matters Showcase last evening in Los Angeles. The place was filled with fresh talent!

Elle Varner experienced some technical difficulties while playing her Grammy-nominated single “Refill.” She filled the time by shouting out her fellow performers, RaVaughn Brown, Stacy Barthe, Leah Labelle and Marsha Ambrosius.

Destiny’s Child To Reunite At Super Bowl; Beyoncé Exposes Baby Bump In Documentary Trailer

Destinys Child Love Songs Cover

Last year, Mathew Knowles announced the release of two Destiny’s Child compilation albums, leading many to think a reunion was forthcoming. Playlist: The Very Best of Destiny’s Child was released in October, but it didn’t house new material the R&B trio. However, the follow-up compilation, Love Songs, which features some of DC’s more intimate songs, includes a new record titled “Nuclear.”

Pharrell, who cowrote the track with Michelle, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal, is responsible for the hip-house production, which samples Lyn Collins’ “Think,” and it makes for a proper soundscape for Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

Wiz Khalifa Performs On ‘Kimmel’ + Releases ‘The Bluff’ Video

Wiz Khalifa Promo

Wiz Khalifa’s promotion for O.N.I.F.C. has been seemingly light, especially considering it’s due out next week (12/4).

“Rise Above” is a cut that appears on the opus, and it features Pharrell, Tuki Carter and Amber Rose. Although unlikely, Wiz seems sober during his verse, where he raps about jealousy and envy being a “bitch trait.” Wiz coos the airy chorus before Skateboard P plugs his Twitter during his forgettable verse. Tuki clinches the track with his eager verse, and Amber closes things with an exaggerated Philly accent.

Photo Op: Tyler & Miley Cyrus Make Nice In Studio Session With Pharrell

Pharrell-Miley-Cyrus-Tyler-Creator

Miley Cyrus, who is currently under the tutelage of Pharrell, had a heated exchange with Skateboard P’s good friend Tyler, the Creator following the unveiling of her edgy haircut. Apparently, the two have settled their differences because they were spotted making nice during a studio session with Pharrell.

Should we expect an odd collaboration in the future? Time will tell.

In The Lab: Frank Ocean, Pharrell & Jay-Z

Frank Ocean is the first voice you hear on Jay-Z’s joint album with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, and he appears elsewhere near the closing. Pharrell, who has been spotted with Frank a lot lately, crafted Jay’s “So Ambitious,” “Excuse Me Miss” and “Change Clothes” and Ocean’s “Sweet Life.”

Well, the three regarded artists have joined forces for something that is sure to be great. Skateboard P shared a photo of himself with Jay and Frank in the studio.

Pharrell Praises Miley Cyrus In BULLETT: ‘Her Voice Is Unreal’

Not only does Pharrell love Miley Cyrus’ new hair cut, but he also adores her artistry. Being a child star (that sings) has its perks and setbacks. Though it frequently elevates the kids to superstardom, the ones with actual talent (Keke Palmer, Raven-Symoné) aren’t taken seriously as singers and performers. Arguably, the watered-down age-appropriate pop music Disney and Nickelodeon provide for them is mostly the problem.

Despite the setbacks, Pharrell realizes Miley’s talent and wants her to succeed. Skateboard P has been working with Miley to create ‘sexy new sounds’.

Mac Miller & Pharrell ‘Glow’

You see that glow!?

Macadelic gets psychedelic with Skateboard P on “Glow,” a highly animated and braggadocios record lifted from their joint project, Pink Slime. Hopefully a visual accompany this entertaining track.

Meanwhile, Mac is preparing for his sophomore album, the follow-up to his breakout album, Blue Side Park. He doesn’t speak in detail about the album, but he says it “expresses more of where [he’s] at right now mentally.”

Tyler, The Creator Says He Has Known About Frank Ocean’s Sexuality For A While

On Independence Day, Frank Ocean shared the story detailing his first love in a stirring letter. Solange, Mac Miller and members of his Odd Future family tweeted words showing their support. Even Tyler, the Creator, who has been labeled a homophobe due to his frequent use of slurs like “faggot,” tweeted his support (in his own unique way, of course).

Remember Formspring? Well, Tyler still uses the platform to interact with his fans. After a fan brought up the widely discussed topic, Tyler responded, further extending his support for the “We All Try” crooner.

Commentor: Frank is the fucking man, and a hero and inspiration to everyone. His sexuality has nothing to do with how amazing his music and talents are. Tyler, you’re also amazing for not caring about that stupid bullshit. You’re honestly a good dude.
