Keyshia Cole On Michelle Williams: ‘She Always F**kin’ The Groove Up’

Keyshia Cole jumped in a pool of sharks when she harshly criticized Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams’ Super Bowl halftime show performance. Beyoncé gave fans a much-anticipated DC3 reunion of sorts during her “Beyoncé Bowl” spectacle.

Parallel to most onlookers, the Vibe Award-winning singer felt that the 3-time Grammy winner wasn’t holding up her leg of the tripod. After her critical tweet, Twitter erupted…and most responses were not in her favor.

Like myself, many felt Cole’s sentiments were inappropriate, especially considering her view of the game and current standing in the entertainment industry. Publicly scrutinizing a fellow “colleague” discharges a lack of professionalism and class.

Read what she had to say, along with a few reactions below.

Keyshia Cole Erupts After Request To Open For The Weeknd

Keyshia Cole may not be on your favorite singer’s favorite singer list, but the R&B veteran has certainly earned her right in the urban music history books. Rightfully so, the “Trust & Believe” diva felt insulted when asked to open for newcomer The Weeknd at her hometown radio station 106 KMEL’s House of Soul concert.

Despite pulling out ahead of the concert, the KMEL continued using her Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum-selling name to advertise the concert. Like many before her, she took to Twitter to rant.

Keyshia Cole ‘Woman To Woman’ [Album Review]

Keyshia Cole Woman To Woman Promo-3

Since her debut, Keyshia Cole’s shtick has been relating to scorned women. The expressive singer was solidified as the second coming of Mary J. Blige (whether Mary approved or not), courtesy of the four singles released from The Way It Is. R&B banger “Let It Go” led Keyshia’s most cohesive album to date, Just Like You, and contributed to the Mary comparisons due to its Bad Boy flavor. Three additional infectious singles followed, making Keyshia eight for eight.

Prior to the release of Keyshia’s third album, A Different Me, a hurricane by the name of Beyoncé resurfaced and dominated her urban contemporaries. In retrospect, this unnatural disaster may have benefited Keyshia. It made it easier for listeners to forget she re-released a deceased rapper’s song as the lead single and was upstaged on the album’s best song.

In-between her third and fourth albums, Keyshia had started a family with NBA baller Daniel “Boobie” Gibson. Fans, particularly scorned women that related with “old Keyshia,” felt disconnected because they were still miserable and perhaps dealing with the same dude Keyshia sang about in ’05. Somehow, they were convinced Calling All Hearts saw KC treading in happier waters, when in fact it boasts a fair share of moody records. If anything, A Different Me is her “happy album.” Unsupportive fans practically demanded for Keyshia to go “back to the basics,” and she indulged them with Woman To Woman.

Keyshia Cole Brings Out Ashanti For ‘Woman To Woman’ Performance

Keyshia Cole Woman To Woman Promo-3

Camaraderie amongst women in the music industry, particularly black women, is seemingly sparse. Keyshia Cole and Ashanti have bridged the gap with “Woman To Woman,” the title track from Keysh’s recently released LP.

The premise of the record is basically a graduated version of Monica and Brandy’s “The Boy Is Mine”–Keysh and Shanti hash things out regarding a man they both are dealing with. The R&B divas performed the track at New York’s Best Buy Theater.

Myeshia’s bff, Tonya Wilson, was seeing her boyfriend, Dontay Jones, behind her back. Like all things done in the dark, their scandalous relationship came to light. Myeshia confronts Tonya–with a bat–and bust the windows out her car. Apparently she took Dontay back because she is shown with him in a subsequent scene. However, their faithful [re]union didn’t last long–Myeshia walked in on Dontay and Tonya in the middle of sex. They fleed from the house, hopped in a Mercedes–together–and sped away.

Keyshia Cole Threatens Legal Action Against Gucci Mane

Young Jeezy called Gucci Mane “retarded” in an interview, and Gucci responded with “Truth,” a song he claims is not a diss record. On the song, Gucci namedrops Keyshia Cole, who was once romantically involved with Jeezy around the same time she was featured on Diddy’s “Last Night.”

“I did a song with Keyshia Cole (see: “Bad Bad Bad”), and I know you still miss her,” Gucci raps. “But Puff was f*ckin’ her while you was falling in love with her.”

Keyshia caught wind of Gucci’s allegations and has threatened legal action against the Atlanta rapper.

“It is my Bday in the AM and I will be calling my lawyers! I’ve spent the last 10 years building my sh*t! U got me twisted Lying ‪@gucci1017.”

Keyshia Cole Unveils ‘Woman To Woman’ Album Cover

Like Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, Keyshia Cole will release her new album on November 19th. Like the latter, she has chosen an underwhelming cover to display on the shelves.

If you thought the blue lips and red heart on Calling All Hearts couldn’t get any worse, check out the elementary Derek Blanks rehash for Woman To Woman. Like the former, Keyshia sacrificed sophistication for something trendy and creative. Sometimes less is more, as indicated by her “Trust And Believe” single cover.
