Last week, Kellie R.Griffin’s Reed Between the Lines premiered on BET. It stars veteran actors Tracee Ellis Ross (Girlfriends) and Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Cosby Show) as Dr. Carla and Alex Reed. Anna Maria Hosford (Friday, The Wayans Brothers) and Melissa De Sousa (The Best Man, Ride) co-star as Ms. Helen Wilson and Gabriella Jimenez. Nadji A. Jeter and Zoë Soul portray Keenan and Kaci Reynolds, twins from Dr. Carla’s prior relationship. Zoé Hendrix showcases Alexis Reed, the daughter between Dr. Carla and Alex.

The Reeds are a modern-day blended family navigating life’s ups and downs with wit and humor. Since the classic sitcom The Cosby Show ended, there have been very few shows portraying black families, or black people, positively, or relatively positive. BET is attempting to bridge the gap of Hollywood misrepresenting “the black family” with scripted sitcoms The Game, Let’s Stay Together and now Reed Between the Lines.

Reed premiered with solid numbers – 3.3 million viewers. This week, the numbers slipped to 1.2 million viewers. Support Reed by tuning in on Tuesdays at 10 pm exclusively on BET.
