Men lie, women lie…numbers don’t. Watch The Throne, the collaborative effort of hip-hop heavyweights, Jay-Z and Kanye West, is predicted to sell between 400-500k in its first week in the United States. This comes as no surprise considering the hype surrounding the project and the immensely positive reaction of the tracks after its midnight release to iTunes last night.
“While both display their characteristic swagger and dabble in materialism, they also ruminate on religion, poverty, crime, loss and the price of success,” wrote Steve Jones of USA Today.”
The applaudable sales is set to become the second-largest sales week of the year, following Lady Gaga’s Born This Way with 1.1 million.
In a surprising turn of events, the album managed to avoid leaking, which may have helped the album to score the number it has.
Watch The Throne will hit retail stores this Friday, August 12th.
