One-half of Hip-Hop duo, Outkast, Big Boi was arrested earlier in the week in Miami for the possession of non-prescription Viagra, Ecstasy and powdered MDMA.
The Georgia-born emcee was busted by police canines when they sniffed the drugs after he exited a cruise ship that was returning from the Caribbean, a vacation Big Boi took with family and friends.
He was soon released on $16,000 bail.
Big Boi is currently working on his follow-up to 2010′s Sir Luscious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty, entitled Daddy Fat Sax. He spoke with The Vine about the direction of the album…
Daddy Fat Sax! S–a–x–x–x: super unadulterated funk! It’s gonna be some of the most Godzilla-meanest rhymes, some of the nastiest funk, like some old rotten eggs and sour milk, and the beats are going to be bangin’! It’s gonna be able to give you a back massage when you’re on your way to work! (Laughs) I’m 17 songs into it and I could put that motherfucker out tomorrow if I wanted to, but I’m gonna marinate on it and I’m just willing to go with the flow and really record some more and stack it all up.”
The 36-year old is also gearing up for a four-stop tour in Australia, starting on the 26th of August.
Jay-Z may consider himself a king on a throne in the rap game, but he is a cash king as well. He tops Forbes‘ “Hip-Hop’s Cash Kings” list for the fifth year in a row by earning $37 million in the past 12 months.
The reigning Cash King reaps benefits of a 10-year $150 million Live Nation deal, stakes in the New Jersey Nets, the 40/40 Club chain, ad firm Translation, book publishing deal and so much more. This is the first year Jay out-earned his wife Beyoncé since their marriage in 2008.
Fellow hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs comes in at number two with $35 million, and Jay’s progeny Kanye West tops off the top 3 by raking in $16 million.
Cash Money’s Lil’ Wayne and Birdman tie with $15 million. Their pride and joy Drake and Nicki Minaj earned $11 million and $6.5 million respectively. Young Money’s latest signee T-Pain rounds off the top 20 with $5 million.
Aftermath Entertainment showed up on the list as well. Dr. Dre and Eminem earned $14 million individually, and 50 Cent made $6 million.

One would think Taylor Swift would be completely unmoved by the Hip-Hop culture after being snubbed of her acceptance speech at 2009′s MTV VMAs. Obviously not, as she covers Eminem’s 2002 smash hit “Lose Yourself” in a Michigan concert.
The 21-year old acoustic balladeer hovers unfamiliar territory, but unexpectedly does a satisfactory job of delivering the song.
Swift demonstrates her R&B and Pop/Rock influence as she covers “Unpretty” by TLC and “Who Knew” by P!nk while in the latter’s hometown of Philadelphia over the weekend.

Actor, husband and father of two, Boris Kodjoe took to Twitter recently to share his thoughts on the the way a man should best present himself, titling the noteworthy conversation that started with actress, Claudia Jordan, “How To Be A Man”.
Jordan tweeted that her mother told her to find ‘some rich, ugly producer and marry him’ because of her troubles with finding a quality man in LA. The 38-year old wittily responded:
“Why he gotta be ugly? Honestly, I think LA is cancerous for relationships. The hustle mentality and ‘gotta make it’ attitude keeps people from cultivating a real connection. No one has time to take anyone in. Everyone is self-centered and wants to ‘keep it moving’ Dudes here are so insecure that they have to switch up a girl every week to hide their ‘weaknesses’. A real man embraces them!”
The dialogue moved him to start a trending topic #How2baMan in which he went on to share with the cyber world the ideals, standards and behaviors he believes a man should possess, without appearing too condescending.

While performing in West Orange, New Jersey this past Sunday, Kelly Rowland gives the crowd a little more motivation than she intended. The 30-year old “Lay It On Me” singer, suffered a wardrobe malfunction mid-performance and continued to perform for almost two minutes before catching the attention of a pointing fan and fixing the nip slip.
The songstress is only second this past week after Nicki Minaj wow’d the crowd with more than just her superbass on ABC during the summer concert series. This takes us back to a defining moment in pop culture when “Ms. Jackson, If Ya Nasty” had the same thing happen to her on the same network in 2004 and suffered isolation, ridicule and nation-wide embarrassment.
Has times changed that much?

47-year-old Kid from hit rap group Kid n’ Play was arrested in Los Angeles, California, earlier today.
According to TMZ,
According to court records obtained by TMZ, Kid was busted for DUI in L.A. on July 8, 2010. Tests showed his blood alcohol level was .15 — nearly twice the legal limit in California.
The “House Party” star pled no contest to a drunk driving charge — and was sentenced to 3 years probation, ordered to complete an alcohol education program, attend 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and pay more than $1,400 in fines and penalties.
But according to the docs, Kid failed to appear in front of the judge on TWO separate occasions — when he was supposed to prove he completed his probation requirements … and on July 25, 2011 a judge issued a warrant for his arrest.
Earlier today, LAPD officers went to Kid’s home and took him into custody. We’re told the rapper was “extremely cooperative.”
Kid is still being held at an L.A. jail — bail has been set at $26,000.
[Update] A couple hours ago, Kid was released and he says it was all a clerical error. [Source]
After 5 years since their last release, rock group Evanescence is back with a vengeance. Their roaring new song “What You Want” is the lead single from their upcoming self-titled album (due October 11th).
During a Q&A with MTV, Amy Lee & co discussed the creation of “What You Want,” their hiatus and more.
On creating “What You Want.” “On one hand, we had a lot of songs that we all felt like we would like to be singles, but it was a really natural choice [to go with 'What You Want],” Lee told MTV News. “It’s kind of about coming back in some ways, about the fans, about this Evanescence renaissance we’re having. I think it makes sense.”
On hiatus. “I had a little bit of an identity crisis,” Lee admitted of being in and associated with Evanescence since she was a teenager and into her adulthood. “[The success with] ‘Fallen’ happened really fast, and it was just go, go, go for a couple years, and we went right into writing and wrote the next record. By the time we finished touring with ‘The Open Door,’ I just needed to go, ‘Who am I as an adult?’
“But [in taking a step back I realized] this is what I do,” Lee said. “It’s not a character; this is really me. Realizing and getting back to it in a real, fuller way. ‘Oh, I’m in this because I love this and [the band] is a true, real part of me,’ not because it’s a character or something. It just makes me really, really happy to be here.”
