Courtesy of Mike WiLL Made It’s freshly unzipped mix tape, Est. In 1989, Pt 2.5, Kelly Rowland uses a sleek soprano to make it clear that she’s no alternate, she’s “Number One“. The synthy cut is produced by Mike WiLL and will also appear on Rowland’s “vulnerable” fourth solo album, Year Of The Woman.
“I won’t ever settle, won’t compromise..not even a little,” Kelly coos.

On working with budding producer, Mike WiLL Made It,
“It was fun, we had a good time together. It’s crazy, it’s crunk! He always sets you in that tone,” Rowland raves. “You know when you get to the club, you need to hear one of his records. It’s just gonna completely change the atmosphere. That’s why I wanted to work with him above anything.”
Though we’re hoping someday her team awakes and revamps a more strategic album era, it’s exciting to watch the “Commander” everywhere, at the same time. If the transparency wasn’t enough to spark interest in her own music, it succeeded in keeping interest in her. By the way, what ever happened to that sitcom?
Vocally impressive and undoubtedly radio-friendly, “Number One” does a much better job of hyping this album. The song’s message salutes the Year Of The Woman.
