Jordin Sparks impressed the world with her powerful voice during her tenure on American Idol. Now, the ‘Idol’ champ is slowly making a transition from music to movies. She scored her first major role in Sparkle alongside Whitney Houston, who effortlessly transitioned from singer to actress. Her most recent acting role is alongside singer-actress and fellow ‘Idol’ alum, Jennifer Hudson.

The film,The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, is being produced by Alicia Keys and follows two inner-city youths left to fend for themselves over the summer after their mothers are taken away by the authorities. Julito McCullum, best known for his role in HBO’s The Wire, tweeted a photo of Sparks and himself in Brooklyn shooting for the movie. Check it out above.
