Trey Songz President Barack Obama

Like Alicia Keys, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Trey Songz is commendably using his celebrity to urge fans to vote in this upcoming election. The charming crooner even sang an impromptu Obama chant during a “Gotta Vote” concert in his home state of Virginia.

Karen Earl, Jenesse’s CEO, states that “Chris and his mom have spent many quiet hours at our facilities, no cameras, no special attention or entourages–they just came to learn.”

Alicia Keys Performs ‘Not Even The King’ At ‘Stand Up 2 Cancer’ Benefit

Alicia Keys follows a mediocre showing at last evening’s MTV VMAs with a stellar performance in support of the “Stand Up 2 Cancer” benefit. The Grammy-winning superstar delicately poured out her soul while singing “Not Even The King,” a divine ballad presumably lifted from her forthcoming Girl On Fire LP.

“This is for all the beautiful people–in my life and yours–who are fighting a war against cancer,” she narrates. “And suddenly, all that matters is love. I pray that we win.”

The video will be released on August 19, World Humanitarian Day. Beyoncé hopes the song will resonate with people and inspire them to impact society by doing a small deed.

Beyoncé Refutes Harry Belafonte’s Criticism

Legendary singer and long-time activist Harry Belafonte had some choice words regarding Beyoncé and her lack of charitable contributions. The timing was quite odd, considering Beyoncé, an Ambassador of World Humanitarian Day, had just visited the United Nations to bring awareness to the movement.

Like Oprah, Beyoncé has refuted claims alleging she lives a selfish lifestyle. The Wall Street Journal reports:

Beyoncé Visits United Nations Headquarters To Support World Humanitarian Day

Beyoncé wants to leave her footprints on the sands of time, and she’s definitely walking the walk by lending her influential voice to charitable causes. The “I Was Here” singer met Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the United Nations General Assembly hall in New York.

Tonight, Bey will perform the Diane Warren-penned ballad at the UN in support of World Humanitarian Day. Go here to ‘add your voice’ to Beyoncé’s “I Was Here” social media campaign.
