Yesterday, Alicia Keys promised fans she would deliver them a surprise, and today, she releases “New Day,” a drum-heavy summer banger. It’s certainly a new day for Mrs. Keys; the Swizz Beatz-produced record isn’t something one would expect from the “Unthinkable” singer.
Enough reading… check out AK’s first offering from her new project.
Yet again, AK has reintroduced herself with a refreshing and daring new sound. Initially, I wasn’t sold on the title–“New Day.” Considering the many changes in AK’s life, I expected a heartfelt, piano-driven ballad addressing those revolutions. However, she liberates an anthemic summer jam (and potential club banger–the breakdown is jig-inducing).
The forceful production is completely out of Keys’ element; however, being the competent musician she is, she incorporated subtle piano chords and soaring vocals throughout. If this is the introduction to album number five, I’d take two slices of that musical cake.
Welcome back, Alicia Keys.

Definitely a new sound for her; has to grow on me. Her music has always been great but I miss her "Songz In A Minor" days.
