Alicia Keys plays the role of a glamorous homemaker in her new video for “Girl On Fire.” Helmed by Sophie Muller–who directed nine of Sade’s videos–the dimly-lit, green-tinted video sees Alicia shucking peas, raising kids (seemingly as a single mother) and aiding her elder. When she wasn’t doing lonesome activities like sweeping the floor and listening to the radio, the sultry superwoman was ignoring some random man who appeared mid-video (her brother maybe?) and playing dress-up with her daughter.

Anticipated pyrotechnics were not involved in this particular vintage number, but it’s likely the Inferno version featuring Nicki Minaj will take a more literal approach.

[Update] A toned down Nicki Minaj appears in the video for the Inferno version. Unfortunately, Nicki’s portion is copied and pasted into the original video, as opposed to reshooting a new treatment.
