Guess who was spotted strolling the streets of L.A.?
Hint: They recently received some heat for sitting.
It’s everyone’s favorite piano-playing diva, Alicia Keys. Alicia shielded herself and her son Egypt from the paparazzi and Los Angeles cold. The “Girl On Fire” singer was criticized for sitting during her personalized rendition of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
“It was disrespectful,” one morning show producer told Huffington Post. “They had enough time and manpower to think of this before the performance. They could have had her stand at her piano keyboard and sing. To me and a lot of my friends, she sounded great but the visual was wrong.”
“Alicia is a proud American and was honored to perform at the event,” says a publicist who has worked with Keys. “Her slow version of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ was her own arrangement, accompanying herself on the piano, adding ‘living in the home of the brave’ at the end of the song. It’s silly to see how that was being disrespectful.”
Meanwhile, Alicia wore an ill-fitting dress while performing with Will.i.am at his annual TRANS4M concert benefitting I.Am.Angel foundation. She is set to perform at the Grammys later tonight.
Bonus: Watch a sneak peek of Oprah’s Master Class. Alicia will be featured on one of the episodes.
