Back in May, Kendrick Lamar brazenly told DJ Drama that he doesn’t vote. He added that he didn’t vote in 2008’s Presidential election, although he was of voting age. Many loyal fans denounced their support for the budding star due to his ignorance towards voting. Evidently he hopes to regain their support–otherwise, why lie during a recorded interview?
Months after that infamous interview, Kendrick has experienced a change of heart and has developed a brand new story. It’s safe to assume that his flip-flopping stance on voting was prompted by the release of his debut album, good kid m.A.A.d city, and/or the backlash from politically-charged fans.
He sat down with three unenthused Hot 97 interviewers to discuss his album, working with Dr. Dre and more. When the conversation came to voting, a hypocritical Lamar said he voted for “Whatchamacallit” in 2008 and plans on voting for him again because Mitt Romney doesn’t have a good heart. Pot, meet Kettle.
