Album Preview: Miguel ‘Kaleidoscope Dream: Air’

Do you like drugs? Because Miguel wants to know.

The eccentric R&B star unleashes the Air Preview in support of his Kaleidoscope Dream album. “Do You…,” “Kaleidoscope Dream” and “The Thrill” are the three new tracks contained in the EP, which will be available on iTunes on September 11th. The full-length LP arrives on October 2nd.

Don’t let the monochrome cover deter you from experiencing the greatness in these songs. The collection is signature Miguel–funky synths, guitar rifts, reverberated vocals and shrewdly humorous lyrics. Salaam Remi crafted the title track.

Listen: Ciara ‘Sophomore’

Ciara Promo

While the world impatiently waits for “Sorry,” DJ Orator leaks a new record from Ciara titled “Sophomore.” Soundz, producer of “Gimme Dat,” crafted the midtempo number.

“So soft… my skin, so soft… my booty,” she sensually chants. “Got him saying, ‘gimme mo’.” Listen below!

Fantasia Serenades Mariah Carey With ‘Hero’ Performance [Video]

Fantasia-Serenades-Mariah-Carey-Hero-BMI

Mariah Carey may have been late arriving at the BMI Urban Music Awards, but she was surely present to witness Fantasia deliver a spirit-filled rendition of her inspirational ballad, “Hero.” Of course, Tasia Mae kicked off her Christian Louboutin heels (see here) before effortlessly wailing the tune.

Mariah was presented with the BMI “Icon Award” for songwriting; Fantasia, along with Joe, Eric Benét and Karen Clark-Sheard, honored her by performing some of her classic songs.

Emeli Sandé Soars At iTunes Festival In London [Video]

Emeli Sandé is quite competent of her gift. While performing at London’s Camden Roundhouse at the iTunes festival, she kept things brilliantly simple. In-between playing each song, she gave brief commentary explaining the conception of the songs.

She soared through songs from her brilliant debut, Our Version of Events, including “My Kind of Love,” “Suitcase” and “Read All About It (Part III).” Being cognizant of her petite catalog, Sandé filled out her set list with covers of Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” and Bob Marley’s “One Love.” Concluding the divine showing with “Heaven” was a fitting finale.

Pharrell Praises Miley Cyrus In BULLETT: ‘Her Voice Is Unreal’

Not only does Pharrell love Miley Cyrus’ new hair cut, but he also adores her artistry. Being a child star (that sings) has its perks and setbacks. Though it frequently elevates the kids to superstardom, the ones with actual talent (Keke Palmer, Raven-Symoné) aren’t taken seriously as singers and performers. Arguably, the watered-down age-appropriate pop music Disney and Nickelodeon provide for them is mostly the problem.

Despite the setbacks, Pharrell realizes Miley’s talent and wants her to succeed. Skateboard P has been working with Miley to create ‘sexy new sounds’.

Lyric Video: Alicia Keys ‘Not Even The King’

After a rousing performance at the “Stand Up 2 Cancer” benefit, Alicia Keys has released the lyric video for “Not Even The King.”

‘King’ is vintage Alicia–simple yet brilliant. Keys finally enters a realm where her writing complements her intellect. Never before has she explained how ‘love is the answer to all of our problems’ so vividly. The socially conscious lyrics can be associated to a number of things–the republican agenda (think about it), people condemning her for her union with Swizz Beatz, etc.
