Embarrassing: Young Jeezy & Rick Ross Involved In Altercation At BET Hip Hop Awards; Gunplay Fights With 50 Cent’s Entourage
Last night, the 2012 Bet Hip Hop Awards was recorded in Atlanta. According to various reports, Young Jeezy and Rick Ross were involved in a “shoving match,” which escalated to gunshots in the parking lot. Their ongoing feud is well-documented, and this will surely add fuel to the fire.
Funkmaster Flex (Radio Personality): Jeezy and Rick Ross just had words backstage!! Pushing and shoving!!!

Shots have been fired. Just heard in the security walkie. We’re in lock down again. They’ve held the Lighty tribute. #HipHopAwards
There is some short of shooting in the parking lot. Gonna go back in the production office. The lighty tribute is beginning. #HipHopAwards
The mood is ok. No one in the actual theater is aware of what’s happened. The Lighty tribute is AMAZING. #HipHopAwards
At least one person has been arrested but the lockdown is over. #HipHopAwards
ATLien (Blogger): Rick Ross dayum near body slammed Young Jeezy right before that last performance….
They’re still exchanging words!! Police were tryna calm down my new Big Poppa…
Tip was like ‘my name Wes… I ain’t in this mess’.
Machine Gun Kelly: Got mase in my eyes. That beef shit just got real outside.
DJ Drama gives a vague recount of the altercation on his radio show.
Meanwhile, Gunplay, who is affiliated with Rick Ross, came to blows with members of 50 Cent’s entourage. According to the low quality fan-captured footage, Gunplay was getting the best of someone, and the police sprayed him and subsequently locked him up.
What’s extremely embarrassing about all of this is that all of the men (used loosely) involved are in their thirties. No, we don’t live in a perfect world, but surely these “staples in the Hip Hop community” can find better ways to settle their differences. And they wonder why we can’t have anything nice. Beyond disappointed in these guys.
[Update] TMZ has acquired low-quality footage of the “brawl.”
