Beyoncé sat down with Anderson Cooper for AC360° before performing “I Was Here” at the United Nations General Assembly Hall. When explaining the Diane Warren-penned song, Beyoncé says:
“It says, ‘I want to leave my footprints in the sands of time’ and it basically is all of our dreams, I think. And that’s leaving our mark on the world. I feel like we all want to know that our life meant something.”
The video will be released on August 19, World Humanitarian Day. Beyoncé hopes the song will resonate with people and inspire them to impact society by doing a small deed.
