Alicia Keys has been silently crafting her fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2009’s The Element of Freedom. She spoke on being “crazy excited” about the project in a vague, personal YouTube video. The 14-time Grammy winner hints at embracing a “new day.”
“I’ve become so much more intelligent and I survey the landscape more and try to come up with what’s the best thing for me, what’s the best thing for [son] Egypt, what’s the best thing for our family.”
“I’ve gone through so much growth and so much realisation and realizing that in life different things come and different things change. I’ve learned that I have to trust myself and trust my instincts. I had to and I have to be braver than I’ve ever had to be before.”
“I am hungry, I am an animal right now. I am just ready to be set free in a whole other way. When it comes to sharing this music with you, I am like a caged animal that’s dying to escape.”
That caged animal has escaped. Moments ago, Alicia teased fans with the production intro to what is possibly the lead single form the album. Although it hasn’t been revealed, it sounds like a Swizz Beatz’ production.
