BET’s video countdown, 106 & Park, has undoubtedly had its fair share of changes since its 2000 debut – some for the better, some for the absolute worse. All in all, it still remains the premier source for Black entertainment…on television.
After several rumors began to form quite the buzz, Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz, announced their departure as hosts of the popular show after seven years.
Diaz was teary-eyed and noticeably caught up in the bittersweet moment as Terrence J spilled what many believed to be true,
“Here it goes, after an amazing seven years of being on this show, we have decided, together, that we will be soon leaving 106 and Park as your hosts,” said Terrence J. “This, by no means, has been an easy decision and it has come after a lot of prayer, a lot of thought and a lot of consideration.”
“We’ve only been able to accomplish everything that it was because we’ve always put God first in our lives,” said Rocsi. “We had no idea, and we can’t even express how amazing the seven years has been. We appreciate you guys so much.”
Terrence confirms that the change, however, will not affect their relationship with BET, but would rather better it.
Surely, this was taken as an opportunity for Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz to pursue larger deals outside of ‘106’. (Terrence recently debuted on film in the No.1 box-office hit, Think Like A Man.)
So what happens next? Is a facelift in store for the network’s biggest and formerly best investment?
