Yelawolf – “Marijuana”
Yelawolf takes us to Gadsden, Alabama, where he stashes his “skunk.” Although the trailer park mogul is rapping about the positives of the hood hustle, Yela has admitted he doesn’t smoke “Marijuana”… anymore.
Maino – “Criminal”
Maino has put his “Criminal” past behind him and has reached enough success to buy his mother a home. Unlike the red pants the girl is wearing (in the video), there’s always room for introspective records in my iTunes’ library. “Criminal” is lifted from Maino’s I Am Who I Am.
Asher Roth – “Dope Shit”
Asher Roth and the 1500 or Nothin Band take to the streets Cali to perform “Dope Shit,” a smooth tune from Pabst & Jazz. The stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was no competition for the impressive cosplayers.
K’Naan Ft. Nas – “Nothing To Lose”
Hip-Hop legend Nas joins Somali Canadian rapper K’Naan on “Nothing To Lose,” an ode to his hood. It’s lifted from his EP, More Beautiful Than Silence.
Future – “Space Cadet”
Future disrespects yet another decent production and continues degrading the coveted title of an astronaut with “Space Cadet,” a cut from his mixtape Astronaut Status. Jim Jones, Gucci Mane and a rented Lambo make cameos.
Tyga – “In This Thang”
“Niggas give me pound, I’m a trending, topic,” is a line from Tyga’s “In This Thang.” It has been a long-time coming for the Young Money rapper. If this is any indication of what Careless World sounds like, I’ll never listen to it.
Freddie Gibbs Ft. 2 Chainz – “Neighborhood Hoez”
“Sitting back, getting my dick sucked by the neighborhood hoe,” raps Freddie Gibbs, a talented, yet relatively unknown Indiana MC. Georgia’s own 2 Chainz “draws pistols with no pencils” with Freddie on the Cold Day In Hell track.
Gucci Mane Ft. Yo Gotti – “I’m In Love With A White Girl”
As we know, the Snowman is all too familiar with “white.” Now, he taps Yo Gotti and Mr. Boomtown to announce his love for caucasian women. Apparently Gorilla Zoe has jungle fever too. Gucci’s Trap Back mixtape is out now.
Ja Rule – “Real Life Fantasy”
Ja Rule may be behind bars, but he plans on maintaining his presence in this fickle industry. Actually, he addresses that on “Real Life Fantasy,” a track from Pain is Love 2, due out next week. Who knew Hype Williams was capable of creating modest visuals?
2 Chainz – “Got One”
2 Chainz is Def Jam’s latest victim, and he’s quite proud of it. Vitamin E directs the deplorable visual for “Got One,” a cut from Tity Boi’s T.R.U. REALigion.
